The Marvel movie is the second biggest opener of the year, rocketing to top of Bank Holiday box office
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 rocketed into number one at the UK and Irish box office this Bank Holiday weekend, taking an estimated £17.85 million in ticket sales over its opening four days.
This is the second highest opening of the year behind Disney’s own Beauty and the Beast.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 took an estimated £13.06m in its first three days, which sees the which sees this hilarious cosmic adventure more than double the £6.5 million opening figure for the original Guardians of the Galaxy film.
After just four days, Guardians of the Galaxy VOL. 2 is bigger than the lifetime grosses of Captain America, (£10.3m), Thor (£14m), Ant-Man £16.3m) Wolverine Origins (£16.3m), Iron Man (£17.4m) and a number of other hard-hitters from the MCU and DC universe.
