TNP Ambassadors are a group of toy testers who have the big responsibility of reviewing toys, games and playthings, so that we can report back to retailers and trade. Before now, we have only published their reviews in our print publication, Toys ‘n’ Playthings, but with lockdown measures in place and more families than ever stuck at home amid the outbreak of Covid-19, we made the decision to bring their thoughts and recommendations online.
One of our littlest testers, four-year-old Amelie, who was tasked with the job of finding fun activities for families to enjoy during and after lockdown, has taken some time out this week to put the Aquabeads Star Friends to the test.
Aimed at children aged four- to ten-years-old and over, the new star-shaped beads from Aquabeads, have 18 points and add a ‘fluffy’ effect to designs. Epoch making toys, the supplier behind the brand, says that by adding texture to a range of creations such as food, clothing and animals, this realistic element expands the brand’s play options
The Star Friends Set comes with eye-catching star-shaped packaging and includes the latest template designs and bead tray, as well as over 600 star beads in 21 colours, making the set well-suited for new and advanced Aquabeaders alike.
“Although she’s at the younger end of the target audience for Aquabeads, Amelie loves all kinds of arts and crafts activities, so she was delighted when her new Star Friends Set arrived,” said mum Natasha.
Natasha told TNP: “Amelie completed the Aquabeads activity with Daddy. She was really looking forward to it and loved all of the different colours of beads and the template pictures that she could choose from. After changing her mind many times, they decided to do the Snap Snap Crocodile!
“Once they worked out how to get the template under the bead tray to create picture, they set about placing the right beads in the right place. The beads were quite small and fiddly for little fingers, so they were dropped lots, but they got there in the end! It took longer than they thought and Amelie at just four was getting a little restless.
“She loved the spraying of the water and was looking forward to this, as had seen this on the TV adverts. They followed all instructions but the first time they flipped the design some of the beads fell off, which caused a few tears, but super daddy fixed it and we soon had the crocodile.
“It was good experience for both of them and I think they will do it again, especially now they have a better understanding of how to make it work. I think Aquabeads is a brand that Amelie will continue to enjoy – perhaps more so as she gets older and can do more of the activity with a little less help from daddy.”
