Gavin Ucko, Managing Director at the Happy Puzzle Company speaks with TNP about how the team is taking one day at a time and ploughing on as best we can in these ever-changing and most challenging times.
How are you all? How’s your team’s morale?
Everyone is worried and there is no sense in denying it. However, we have set up a WhatsApp group for the whole team where we can share the various videos and fun things - no work stuff is allowed!
Are you a company where some staff can comfortably work remotely?
Mostly - and we are, and technology makes it easier - who knew about this amazing Zoom App!
How clear have you found government guidelines so far? Do you feel the government is offering enough support?
Completely! I don’t think they could be doing more, and it is making the whole thing easier to deal with. We genuinely feel supported.
What business strategies do you have in place to assist the continual smooth running of your business?
It’s an evolving situation and we are taking one day at a time. It’s difficult to plan when things keep changing.
Do you have any helpful advice or additional support you are offering your retailers?
We have lowered the free delivery threshold to help retailers and also sending out more demo copies of things - anything we can do to help we would like to do!
Have you currently got good stock levels to meet supply demand and the logistics in place to aim for smooth delivery?
At the moment yes - but things change quickly.
What’s your online presence and social media set-up like? Do you plan on boosting this presence in the weeks to come?
We are doing lots of competitions and posting free puzzles through social media. Anything we can do to make people smile is a help.
How will you continue to drive awareness to your product ranges?
We just have to plough on as best we can. People still have to live their lives, kids will still have birthdays and relations with birthdays. We can only do our best!
How could Toys ‘n’ Playthings assist you?
I think a lovely article about the amazing story of The Happy Puzzle Company would go down a treat!
