Inside Out Toys (IOT) has announced the immediate availability of new sustainable toy brand, Tikiri in the UK.

The family owned and run company has been busy over the course of lockdown, managing to use the Covid-19 ‘down’ time to formalise a strategic partnership agreement with Tikiri Toys.

Julian Garner, IOT owner and MD says: “Recognising the desire for sustainable toys, produced by ethically and socially responsible manufacturers, we are proud to have been chosen to represent the brand in the United Kingdom.”

Earlier this year, Tikiri Toys won the Gift Association ‘Ethical Toy of the Year’ for their collection of 100 per cent natural rubber and organic cotton baby toys.

Mano Sheriff, CEO at Tikiri Toys, says: “I am really pleased to be working with Inside Out Toys to distribute Tikiri in the UK. Tikiri is a relatively young brand but is already gaining recognition globally. Inside Out Toys and Tikiri share the same ethical values and we have ambitious plans for UK development. We feel very fortunate to be working alongside Inside Out Toys.”

Tikiri – which means ‘teeny tiny’ in the native language of Sinhala – is based in Sri Lanka. By sourcing and producing all their toys locally, the company significantly minimises both its carbon footprint and its impact on the environment. Not only this, but the factory has a fantastic reputation for looking after the welfare of its employees, holding certification from both BSCI (the Business Social Compliance Initiative) and SMETA (SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audit), and demonstrating commitment to the 10 principles of fair trade.

Everything made by Tikiri is designed to create a love and respect for the people and the world around them. The brand offers natural, handmade alternatives to mass produced plastic toys to help children unplug, learn new skills, and interact with the real world.

IOT already distributes two brands of wooden toys: Jumini, its own brand of brightly coloured wooden toys, launched in 2016, and Studio Circus, a collection of pastel coloured wooden toys, designed in the Netherlands.
