After a decade serving the local community in Dunblane, Toy Hub is to cease trading before Christmas.
The independent toy retailer shared the news via a Facebook post confirming that while “it’s been a 10 year rollercoaster of fun, frivolity and generally being awesone… all good things must come to and end”.
Toy Hub, which is run by owners Helen and Gez Gourley, pictured top, will close its doors for the last time next Saturday 14 December with a farewell party.
“The Toy Hub family would like to thank each and every one of you who have supported our venture,” the post says. “We’d love to invite you to share your memories with as we leave Dunblane High Street and have included some of our favourite pictures in this post to help remind you of our journey.”
The news has been met with an outpouring of support from locals, who lamented the closure as loss for the local community and the high street.
One local said: “Sad to hear this news, such a lovely independent little toy shop with carefully selected toys and collectibles – you'll be very missed on the high street!”
“We have so many wonderful memories of the Toy Hub,” shared another. “I’m sure we aren’t the only family whose holidays have rung to shouts of Dobble, Tenzii or Geistes Blitz-inspired shrieks of laughter.”
One regular summed up the role Toy Hub – and other indie toy shops around the country – play in bringing toys to all parts of the UK and Ireland: “Really sorry to hear that, my children loved coming into the toy hub for birthday presents, you were all so good to advise on what suits who, all the best for what comes next for you guys, you will be missed lots.”
The Toy Hub team have been regular contributors to Toys n Playthings magazine over the past decade, sharing their thoughts and insight on the tough world of toy retail. Good luck to all in the future.
