The Entertainer is teaming back up with The Salvation Army with the return of the Big Toy Rehoming donation initiative.

Shoppers donated more than 6000 toys to the cause during the first Big Toy Rehoming this summer. The Salvation Army was delighted with the success of the June appeal, saying it was overwhelmed by the response and generosity of the public over just a three-day period, and hopes to help find new owners for even more unwanted toys this time out.

The scheme will run for three weeks this month, with customers asked to bring toys that are wither unwanted or no longer played with to any branch of The Entertainer between 5 and 28 September to be rehomed through The Salvation Army.

The retailer hopes the initiative will go some way towards reducing the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfill by extending the lifecycle of the playthings through rehoming or responsible recycling and repurposing programmes.

Donations with a valid CE mark on the toy or packaging will be redistributed through The Salvation Army’s network, helping to reduce the amount of plastic ending up in landfill while also supporting the charity. Toys without a valid CE mark on the toy or packaging will be safely recycled, although no soft toys or plush will be accepted.
