Smyths Toys Superstores in Staples Corner was transformed for a Barbie bash last weekend, joining in with the 60th anniversary celebrations of Mattel’s iconic fashion doll.

The You Can Be Anything Barbie events on 9 and 10 March welcomed YouTubers Cupcake Surprise Toys and thousands of fans – an estimated 3,000 across eight Smyths Stores that joined in with the activity – who got to experience some exciting surprises.

Visitors were treated to face painting, a parent and child play and learn area, free goodie bags that packed with a Chelsea doll and a copy of the Barbie magazine. There were also photo opportunities, and the first 100 attendees to purchase a Barbie product to the value of £9.99 received a free photo frame.

“We are thrilled to have hosted our You Can Be Anything Barbie event in selected stores throughout the UK,” says Smyths Toys’ Joint Head of Marketing, Sinead Byrne. “Celebrating Barbie’s 60th anniversary, this is an amazing milestone and an inspiring message to send out to young children for their future and that they can be anything.”

Julie Jackson, Senior Brand Manager, Barbie UK, adds: “For 60 years Barbie has inspired the limitless potential in girls showing them over 200 careers and selling more than a billion dolls in the process. Barbie is the ultimate girl empowerment brand and we couldn’t be more excited to show girls that You Can Be Anything at Staples Corner this for this special anniversary.”
