Retail guru Mary Portas will host a Q&A session at Autumn Fair next month, tackling the tricky business of creating a community out of loyal customers.
In Conversation with Mary Portas will take place 2-3pm on Monday 2 September, headlining a packed seminar programme that runs throughout the event covering matters of retail, international sourcing, blockchain and other pioneering tech, trends, and more.

The Queen of Shops will take aim at, in her own words, “the old dinosaurs and faceless corporations” that are struggling in today’s retail landscape, while championing small businesses and retailers “who place people and community at the heart of their business”.

“I truly believe there’s never been a more exciting time to be in retail and I’m excited to see what’s on offer at Autumn Fair this year,” Mary says.

Autumn Fair opens 1-4 September

In the session, Autumn Fair organisers say Mary will talk visitors through her insights into business, particularly on the high street, and how the secret to saving stores lies in the relationships retailers build with their customers.

Julie Driscoll, MD of Spring and Autumn Fair, says: “We’re incredibly excited to be able to announce Mary as a show headliner; she’s been a true champion of the UK retail sector for much of the past two decades.

“She’ll bring a renewed sense of optimism in the Great British High Street to the show, as well as her characteristically unique and creative ideas as to how the sector can improve and grow into its future. We’re thrilled to be able to welcome her.”
