Zimpli Kids has developed a fully eco-friendly range of covermount prizes in response to concerns from consumers and magazine publishers over the amount of plastic toys given away on newsstands.
New Eco Gelli Play and Eco Slime Play covermounts use Zimpli’s certified biodegradable powder, and come housed inside a recyclable paper bag and coloured, branded recyclable paper sleeve.
“Sustainability really is a hugely important factor to us at Zimpli Kids, and we are determined to make a difference, one Gelli Baff at a time,” says Jessica Coy, Head of Marketing at Zimpli Kids.
“Along with our brand new Eco range of products, we felt that creating a 20g Eco Gelli and Slime Play for covermounts would be the perfect offering for environmentally conscious magazines.”
Zimpli says it is redoubling efforts towards eco-friendly goods as the demand from both consumers and retailers continues to rise. The company says magazine publishers in particular are seeking alternatives to the plastic toys traditionally given away as free gifts in a bid minimise the impact on landfill.
All Zimpli’s new covermounts, like the vast majority of its products, are manufactured in its ISO 9001 accredited UK factory and have recently been accredited with the ISO 14001, the coveted environmental certification awarded to companies who prove they minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment.
As well as packaging, Zimpli’s Gelli and Slime powders are also certified biodegradable. Both passed the Bio-degradation Test OECD 301B, which adds the product to sewerage and measures its rate of biodegradation.
