Ride-on travel goods company Trunki is branching out into balance bikes and scooters in an exclusive licensing partnership with Halfords.

The new Trunki Folding Scooters and Balance Bikes take the core tenets of the brand’s famous sit-on kids’ suitcases – lightweight design, tow/carry cord – and reimagine them for more traditional play products.

Rob Law, the CEO and founder of Trunki who was famously turned down by investors in the Dragons’ Den, says the idea sprang from his own family life, “inspired by my experience towing my kids with a Trunki strap”.

The range of balance bikes are lightweight and come fitted with convenience features for adults, including a unique folding mechanism, twist bars and folding rear wheel for easy storage when not in use. A tow strap lets adults pull children along if they need extra assistance, and a carry strap makes it easy to hang on a pram or carry on the shoulder. A and handy bag means car interiors stay clean when it’s time to go home.

Designed with younger children in mind, the scooters feature an extra-wide rear wheel and brake to allow little ones to stop and control the scooter with confidence, while adjustable handlebar makes the three-wheeled ride-on accessible for a range of ages and heights. As with the balance bikes, a push-to-fold bar makes storing and transporting the scooters quick and simple.

Both ranges are available now exclusively from Halfords in a variety of bold colours, including blue and pink.
