Jazwares wowed crowds at the first-ever Fortnite World Cup this week, unveiling its new Battle Bus drone in-front of the game’s biggest fans.
The drone is an RC replica of the in-game Battle Bus, a floating vehicle which players dive out of at the beginning of each game, and is part of Jazwares’ wider RC range for Christmas 2019. The Battle Bus drone is the second product in the range to be unveiled, following the unveiling of the All Terrain Kart earlier in July during San Diego Comic-Con.
The Battle Bus drone was available in limited quantities at the event in New York City this weekend, and will land at retailers in autumn.
The toy company has joined forces with esports team Faze Clan to share new reveals in the RC range, a partnership that will continue throughout the year with new reveals leading up to the Christmas period. Team members Faze Blaze, Faze Adapt and Faze Cizzorz will all be featured in Jazwares’ global commercial campaign, slated to air in August.
The Fornite World Cup drew millions of viewers over the weekend, including a consecutive viewership of more than two million at its peak. Players battled it out to be crowned world champion and take home a share of the $30m prize pool – giving it greater earning potential than the Wimbledon tennis tournament held earlier this month. The top prize in the Solos was $3m, won by 16-year-old Kyle ‘Bugha’ Giersdorf, but even those coming last walked away with tens of thousands of dollars.
