More diverse licensing features and extended line-up of expert panels will give licensing its biggest showing yet at the biggest toy fair in the world

Licensing takes the spotlight at Nuremberg 2020 thumbnail

New features and extended panel sessions at Nuremberg Toy Fair 2020 will place a greater emphasis on licensed toys and the role these properties play in boosting toy sales around the world

From lifestyle products to dolls and from cuddly toys to back-to-school, stationery and crafts, international exhibitors across all 12 product groups will present a wide array of licensed products.

Licensing International will also be on hand to offer valuable advice in Hall 12.0, and members of the association will present their latest highlights to an exclusive circle of visitors at LicensePreview. Participants include NBC Universal, Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products, and WildBrain CPLG representing Sony Pictures and Sanrio.

Ernst Kick, CEO of the show’s organiser Spielwarenmesse eG, says that “the key players in the licensing industry are all appearing at the Spielwarenmesse”, making it a destination to scout the hottest new properties and be among the first to learn more about the latest developments from evergreens and global smash hits.

“By offering a selection of targeted features, we’re encouraging an intensive dialogue between licensors and licensees, agencies, trade and industry,” Ernst adds.


One such feature are the LicenseTalks, which for the first time at Nuremberg Toy Fair will take place across four days, deliver fresh and relevant insights on all aspects of the licensing business. Experts at the Toy Business Forum in Hall 3A will shed light on the latest licensing themes from 10.30 am to 11.30 am, Wednesday to Saturday.

On the first day, the speakers will look at the topic of Sustainability and Licensing. The following day, Jennifer Coleman, VP Licensing and Marketing, Konami Cross Media NY; Steven Ekstract, Brand Director, Global Licensing Group; and Jazware;s VP Global Licensing, Sam Ferguson will dig into igital Native Brands: Gaming as Content Originator.

Friday’s presentaion will be under the banner of Sequels & Co. – How to plan your business for sequels, spin-offs and remakes, with Werner Lenzner, Licensing and Strategic Development Manager at the Simba Dickie Group confirmed as one of the speakers. A presentation called Licensing market trends will close out the series of panels on Saturday.
