TNP Ambassadors' Review: Bandai’s National Geographic Dino Fossil Dig Kit thumbnail

Our little toy testers – affectionately known as our TNP Ambassadors – are well versed in the practice of putting toys, games and playthings through their paces. Before now, the reviews from our squad of TNP Ambassadors have only been published within the print issue of Toys ‘n’ Playthings. But, if ever there’s a time for us to bring the thoughts and recommendations of our tiny testers online, it’s now!

“Whilst current restrictions remain in place, parents are looking for ways in which to keep their children entertained and happy,” says Magali Clouzet, Senior Brand Manager, Bandai UK.

The outbreak of Covid-19 has required families to spend more time than ever indoors. And, with this week’s announcement that lockdown measures are to remain in place for at least a few more weeks, parents continue to face the challenge of finding new ways to keep the kids amused.

One of our ambassadors, tasked with the job of finding fun activities for families to enjoy during – and after – lockdown is eight-year-old Max. This week, he put Bandai’s National Geographic Dino Fossil Dig Kit to the test.

Suitable for children aged eight years and over, National Geographic's Dinosaur Dig is an exciting hands-on adventure that lets boys and girls explore fossils that are millions of years old.

Speaking of the company’s National Geographic range, Magali Clouzet said: The National Geographic Kits offer the perfect solution to ensure that kids can have fun and learn new science-based skills at the same time. Each of the kits include a learning guide and genuine real-life specimens – allowing children to continue with their learning through engaging and hands-on experiments.

“We're finding that children are happy to play with the kits in silo or alongside siblings and parents and with each kit available at under £10, they're an affordable option for the entire family to get involved!”

A big fan of dinosaurs, toy tester Max was delighted to receive the kit in the post!

Max said: “When I opened the box I could not wait to start digging.

“I added some water to soften the dig brick and I started slowly chipping away, which was great fun. It took a while to find all the dino fossils which was really exciting, and it was worth all the effort. I will treasure all three Dinosaur Specimens.

“I will keep the magnifying glass and the tools for my mini beast collection. And the Dig Kit included a very interesting Dino Fossil Learning Guide, which I will also keep.

“This kit was great fun – I’d fully recommend it!”
